I Have Relatives With Purple Hair And A Very Shiny Sink

Happy New Year!

Today Addison and I went to David and Karen's for lunch. We had some very yummy lasagna. I can't think of a better way to bring in the new year than with good Italian food. Since Jon and Wendy were in Colorado for Christmas, we exchanged our gifts today with them. It is so much fun to buy gifts for other people's kids and I do try to be practical, but with my niece it is very hard. Girls are just so fun to shop for. And what five year old girl doesn't need a headband with hot pink braids and sparkly purple extensions?

Here's Jaley modeling her new hairdo. Apparently it is impossible to wear this headband without breaking into a John Travolta impersonation.

Then she talked Aunt Michele and her mom into joining in on the fun.

Addison and I came home and played for a while. After she went to bed I started straightening the house. Then I remembered something I read lately on Flylady about shining your sink. The philosophy goes something like this: If your sink is full of dirty dishes all the time you're less likely to cook at home, thus you go out to eat and waste money. If you were to wake up every morning to a glorious sparkling sink, you couldn't help but smile. So then I thought.......I want to smile tomorrow morning. I'm a good person. I deserve it. Why can't I smile in the morning like everyone else? I'm going to shine my sink. So I did.

Now I know what your all thinking. How did she ever get that darn sink to sparkle so. Well, here is what I did. First, I filled both sides of the sinks with super hot water and added about 1/2 cup of bleach. I let that sit for about 15 minutes. Then I used my thongs and pulled out the plugs. I then used Ajax and scrubbed out both sides and rinsed. Finally, I took out my trusty Windex and polished them up. I know, it sounds like such a fiasco, but believe me, it was well worth it. I smiled tonight. I'm smiling now. I'm going to smile in the morning.

P.S. Yes, I'm bogging about cleaning products. Mock if you will, but everyone needs something to live for.

I just realized I wrote "I used thongs to unplug the sink". I'd like to clarify.......I didn't use my thongs, I used my tongs. Or is tongs spelled thongs???? If anyone knows, please reply.

I was curious as to what time of thongs you used. The feet and behind kind both sounded weird to be using to clean a sink. I believe the utensil type are spelled tongs.

This post is AWESOME! That is a beautiful sink! I read somewhere that vinegar shines up stainless steel - but I haven't tried it yet. I've never used Ajax either (you're probably wondering what the heck I clean with). I'm going to try them both out. And hey - maybe I'll use my thongs like you did.
